"The idea of a videocassette first was proposed by Koichi Tsunoda, a Sony engineer, in 1964, after seeing Philips' audio cassette," the CEA recounts. "But the question was whether consumers were interested in recording TV programs."
Just Google "koichi tsunoda sony"
Then there's her great grand father, Ryusaku Tsunoda.

Ryūsaku Tsunoda (角田 柳作 Tsunoda Ryūsaku, 1877-1964) is known as the "father of Japanese studies" at Columbia University.[1] He was directly responsible for developing the Japanese language and literature collection at Columbia's library
Once again you can just google him.
Also, her ancestors from Japan were Samurai according to her grandmother.
Pretty cool stuff.

That is crazy cool!
I would have a T-shirt made that said,
"The Video Cassette..., yeah my uncle invented it."
My ancestors were also Samurai. Wait thats not true at all, unless one could equate rednecks to Samurai which is not possible.
FINALLY!!
I've been waiting my whole life to know someone with connections who can hook me up with a free VHS recorder...
Unfortunately, it's betamax.
But you know....better picture and all.
my uncle was somehow responsible for the compact disc. i found an old newspaper article from the la times dated in the 70's that had my uncle talking about the compact disc. i was about 9 or so when i read it and just barely understood what the cpu was.
I remember that I forgot that.
Also, you just told me the name of a samurai ancestor of yours, which I can't remember and should add...
